Edel Thornton has been awarded the Evening Echo Sports Star of the Month for January 2013 for her achievments in both the U18 and U20 National Cup finals where she was awarded the MVP in both Finals. Edel has also been awarded The Cork City & County Youth Award for the month of January. This is a tremendous achievement for Edel and marks the end of what was a marvellous month for the Club.

Super League Home Game this Weekend

Singleton SuperValu Brunell return to action in the Parochial Hall this weekend when they host Ulster Rockets on Sunday at 2.45pm. The team will be hoping to overturn the result from last weekend when they were defeated in Belfast on a score line of 75 to 64. We are looking for all club members to come out and support the team in this very important game.

Historic Double MVP Award

Singleton SuperValu Brunell's Edel Thornton made history when she became the First female player to win the MVP awards at U18 and U20 Cup Finals on the same weekend.Edel had 19 points, 12 rebounds and 4 steals in the victory over Glanmire in the U18 Final and floowed that up with 35 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals in the win over Killester in the U20 Final.

History Is Made

Singleton's SuperValu Brunell created history today when it's U20 team completed a National Cup double when defeating Killester on a score line of 76 to 56. In what turned out to be a very tigh game in the first quareter Brunell went in level at 15 all at the end of the first quarter. The start of the 2nd quarter was very tense and it was from half way through the 2nd Quarter that Brunell class statred to tell and they went in leading by 12 at half time( 36-24). The second half was went Brunell showed its dominance as the led 56 - 40 at the end of the third quarter. Their was no let up in the final quarter as Brunell pulled away to win the game by 20 points ( 76 -56). Top scorers for Singleton SuperValu Brunell were Edel Thornton 35, Megan O'Leary 13, Alison Kearney 11. The MVP award went to Singleton SuperValu Brunell's Edel Thornton.

Singleton SuperValu Brunell's Edel Thornton was this morning named MVP of the U18 National Cup Final played at the National Basketball Arena, Tallagh, Dublin.. Edel top scored in the game with 19 points and had 12 rebounds.

Singleton SuperValu Brunell U18's Retain National Cup Title

Singleton SuperValu Brunell retained its U18 National Cup Title this morning at the National Basketball Arena when defeating Glanmire on a shoreline of 77 to 54. Brunell started slowing and we tied at the end if the 1st quarter at 13 - 13. The start of the second quarter was delayed by 10mins due to a scoreboard failure, this delay seemed to settle the team down and the team started to pull away leading at half time on a score line of 39 to 30. The tempo was upped at the start of the second half and Brunell gradually started to pull away and led at the end of the quarter 58 - 41. Brunell's domination continued in the final quarter and eventually ran out winners on a shoreline of 77 - 54.

Singleton's SuperValu Brunell Head to Dubin in Style

Singleton's SuperValu Brunell U18's and U20's hope to do the club proud and bring back two National Cups to Cork this weekend. They are heading to Dublin today at 2.30 from Singleton's uperValu in Hollyhill in Cronins Coaches fully kitted out with the sponsors name.

Historic Weekend

This weekend is huge in the history of Brunell Basketball Club as the clubs U18 and U20 teams compete in their respective national Cup finals. For the U18 team this is the second time that the club has contested this final in its history but for the U20 team this is the clubs very first ever time competing in a final at this grade. The U18's are first into action on Saturday morning 26th January 2013 at 10.00am when take on local rivals Glanmire  in the National Basketball Arena, in Tallagh. The U20's will step on to the court on Sunday 27th January 2013 at 12.00pm when they take on Killester. We are hoping for a large attendance of club members at both games.
