3on3 Champions U14 & U18

Brunell's U14 and U18 3on3 teams wthrive clubs fifth and sixth national titles yesterday in Gormanstown. The U14's team coached by Mary Lyall consisted of Amy Murphy, Rebecca Miller, Laura Morrissey and Melanie Thompson with the U18's coached by Kieran O'Leary consisted of Megan O'Leary, Amy Waters, Aoife Dineen and Orla Connolly. 

National Awards

Brunell Basketball Club has revieved a number of high profile awards from Basketball Ireland. The National awards will be presented this Saturday at the National Basketball Arena. The following are the the winners of the National Awards:

Nivea Women's SuperLeague Young Player of the Year; Edel Thornton (Singelton SuperValu Brunell)

Women's Underage Coach of the Year: Brunell Basketball Club ( This has been awarded to the complete Underage Coaching Staff in Brunell.)

Girls U18 international Player of the Year; Amy Waters (Brunell Basketball Club)

AICC Under 14 Girls - Player of the Year; Amy Murphy (Brunell Basketball Club)

The Club would like to congratulate all the award winners which caps what was a very successful season for the club.

Brunell Basketball Club would like to send congratulations to Shanon Kynoch on her recent appointment as Head Coach of St.Michaels College. Brunell has had a long association with St.Michaels and hope to continue this friendship under Coach Kynoch, and we would like to wish former coach jennifer Niebling all the best for her future.

U14 All Ireland Champions

The clubs U14 team along with its Coach Mary Lyall, assistant Coach Kathleen Kelleher traveled to Dublin over the weekend to compete in the U14 All Ireland Club Cahampionship and emerged as winners after a great weekend of Basketball. In the pool games Brunell played Liffey Celtics who they beat on a score line of 54 - 40 and played Ballyshannon in its second pool game and came out winners on a scoreline of 44 -9. These wins set up a semi final with St.Josephs on Sunday morning. Brunell eventually emerged as winners 0n a scoreline of 42 - 41 after overtime, so after the second semi-final Brunell would play Kiltimagh Giants in the final. The final would again go to overtime with Brunell running out winners on a scoreline of 68 - 66. Top scoreers for Brunell in the Final were Amy Murphy with 31 points, Melanie Thompson with 6 points and Orla Murphy with 6 points. Brunell's Amy Murphy was awarded the MVP.

Championship Finals Weekend

Brunell Basketball Club has 3 teams competing in this weekends championship Finals in Neptune Stadium. First up on Saturday the 6th April are the U15 team who will be playing Fr. Mathews at 10.00am. The next team on court are the U14A team who will be playing Glanmire in the U14A Final at 1.30pm. Action will continue in Neptune on Sunday 7th April when the U13 team will play Glanmire in the U13 final at 2.00pm. Best of luck to all teams playing this weekend.

Singleton SuperValu Brunell win Super League Shield

Singleton SuperValu Brunell defeated Killester from Dublin this morning in the National Basketball Arena in the Women's Superleague Shield Final on a shoreline of 60 to 45. Singletons Edel Thornton was awarded the MVP of the game having totalled 28 points

Super League Game on Sunday 3rd March 2013 is cancelled.

Singleton's SuperValu Brunell final home game in this season’s Women’s super league regular season has been cancelled due to Liffey Celtics being unable to travel for the game as they were unable to field a team. The CSC of Basketball Ireland has duly awarded the game to Singleton's SuperValu Brunell on a score line of 20-0.
